Paas aake huye ham door

In old days, when we did not have all these shopping complexes, baazaar, especially Meena Baazar was the ultimate in shopping experience. As a kid, it was my dream to go visit a Meena Bazar.
I find that there was actually a movie by this name. I wonder what was the story of this movie. was it entirely devoted on showing Meena Bazaar, or the title was just arbitrarily chosen.
I may never know about the story of this movie, since the video of this movie is apparently not available. Even the songs of this movie are difficult to come by.
Here is a rare song from this movie. It is a aduet which is sung by Rafi and Lata. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and Husnlal Bhagatram composed the music.
Here is this nice sentimental song from “Meena Baazaar” (1950).
song-Paas aake huye ham door (Meena Baazaar) (1950) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram
Lyrics
paas aake huye ham door
ham door
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
nahin tumse mujhe gilaa koi
nahin tumse mujhe gilaa koi
duniyaa ki reet puraani hai
koi hansne par majboor yahaan
majboor yahaan
koii rone par majboor
majboor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
o mere aansoo dekhne waalon
o mere aansoo dekhne waalon
denaa meri gawaahi
denaa meri gawaahi
mere piyaa se ye kah denaa
ye kah denaa
nahin meraa koi qasoor haay qasoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
rone waale kyun rotaa hai
rone waale kyun rotaa hai
aisaa hi pyaar mein hotaa hai
o parwaane is mehfil mein
haay mehfil mein
hai jalane kaa dastoor
dastoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
paas aake huye ham door
ham door
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor
yahi thaa qismat ko manzoor

Atul where is Meena Bazaar? Does every town have one? I always thought Meena Bazaar was in Calcutta–or Delhi (because according to my mom she picked me up from there. They lived in Calcutta and I was born in Delhi).

Meena Baazaar means a grand bazaar. It was not a permanent baazaar rather one that was set up for a few days. It is something like todays exhibitions that last for a few days.

Sophy, if she picked you up in a Meena Bazaar then you definitely have a long lost sibling too. 😀 Start looking for marks on your body (or a forgotten family song) that wll help you reunite with your separated folks. 😀
