Gayaa andheraa huaa ujaaraa

I thought I had already discusssed this song from “Subah Ka Taara” (1954). So I was surprised to get a farmaish for this song. On checking, I realised that I had not posted this song, or for that matter any song from this movie.
I clearly recall discussing this song in the past. So now I realise that I had discussed this song in my other blog while discussing Binaca geetmala, C Ramchandra etc.
Here is this wonderful song from “Subah Ka taara” (1954). This is a duet sung by Talat Mehmood and Lata. It is picturised on Pradeep Kumar and Jashree as a train song. What a joyous song it is. This song can be described as the title song as well as theme song of this movie as well.
Noor Lucknowi is the lyricist and C Ramchandra is the music director. What a timeless classic this song is ! Listening to this song certainly makes one’s day.

I often hum the refrain, and wonder how closely it resembles the US ditty, “This land is my land, this land is your land, from california, to the New York island”

Hi Atul,
The female actress on whom this song is picturised is “JAYASHREE”,
she is the second wife, of the famous film director V.shantharam and also she is the mother of beautiful Rajashree(who acted in many hindi films like Janwar,Dil ne pukara,Shehnai, Sagai,Around the world, Grihasti,Geet gaya pattharon ne, Naina,Brimachari, Do dil etc.).The famous Marathi Hindi film director “Kiran shantharam” is Jayashree`s son.
Further “Jayahsree” herself acted in
1)Dr.Kotnis ki amar kahaani (1946)(alongwith V.Shantharam)
2)Shakunthala(1943)(with Chandramohan),
3)Dahej(1950),
4)Parchaayiyan(1952)
