Songs in the old days were often like works of art that were carefully crafted by master craftsmen. Their artistry resulted in masterpieces that needed to be admired.
I find that many of these masterpieces have been forgotten and there is little likelihood of them getiing noticed by people on their own unless someone digs them out and tells people about them. In this blog, I try to do that. I have dug many forgotten masterpieces from the past and discussed them here.
Here is another such gem from the past. This song is a great romantic song/ chhaayaageet song/ love song. The picturisation shows a very young Madhubala in a boat with Jairaj and enjoying the romantic night. The song plays in the background. The song is sung by a less known voice and it is so highly refreshing to hear a different and fresh sounding voice whose singing quality is second to none.
The song is sung amazingly well by Surinder Kaur and it leaves the listeners spell bound. The singing, plus the picturisation makes listening to this song (and watching the pcturisation) an unforgettable and memorable experience.
D N Madhok whom I am finding worthy of more and more admiration , is the lyricist. Khursheed Anwar composed this great song that needs to be much better known among music lovers.
