Duniyaa waalon badaa hai mushqil apne dil ko todnaa

Posted on: December 19, 2010

Some times name of the movie gives you an idea what to expect. If the title of a movie begins with the adjective “Chhoti” and it is followed by a common noun depicting a female person then you can expect a movie full of sacrifices and sad songs. Movie makers have left no such combination unused while choosing titles for their movies.

Thus we have had movies with titles like “Chhoti Bahan”(1959) and “Chhoti Bahu”(1971). That leaves us with another possible title, viz “Chhoti Bhaabhi”. Indeed, such a title cannot be left unused by Hindi movie makers. They in fact thought of this title way back in 1950 itself.

Here is a song from “Chhoti Bhaabhi” (1950). This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nargis. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and Husnlal-Bhagatram composed the song.

It is a sad melancholic song. I could never have guessed it. 😀

Song-Duniya waalon badaa hai mushqil apne dil ko todna (Chhoti Bhaabhi) (1950) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-Husnalal Bhagatram

Lyrics

kaise tere paas aaun
beech mein deewaar hai
ek jaanib farz hai
aur ek jaanib pyaar hai
duniya waalon
bada hai mushqil
apne dil ko todna
karke muhabbat chhodna
duniya waalon
bada hai mushqil
apne dil ko todna
karke muhabbat chhodna

mere dil ka haal wo jaanen
mere dil ka haal wo jaanen
jo saajan se bichhad gayaa
haay
jo saajan se bichhad gayaa
duniyaa mein aasaan nahin hai
dor pyaar ki todnaa
karke muhabbat chhodnaa
duniya waalon
bada hai mushqil
apne dil ko todna
karke muhabbat chhodna

o mere ashqon
tum ruk jaao
o mere ashqon
tum ruk jaao
ham to lute hain
apni khushi se
apni khushi se
meri kismat mein likhaa thhaa
haath pakadkar chhodnaa
karke muhabbat chhodna
duniya waalon
bada hai mushqil
apne dil ko todna
karke muhabbat chhodna

What about this mischievous looking Lata-Rafi song from the same film? Here it is :

A typical Husnalal-Bhagatram tune.
