There have been several songs sung by Kishore Kumar under the music direction of Hemant Kumar. But here is a song where the roles are reversed. Here it is Hemant Kumar singing under the music direction of Kishore Kumar !
And it is quite a special song indeed. This song is from “Door Gagan Ki Chhaaon Mein” (1964) which was Kishore Kumar’s home production and was a labour of love for him.
This song in fact is the theme song cum title song of the movie. It is also the movie opening song. The credits roll on the screen as this song gets sung in the background.
This song is special for this blog as well. This is the 100th song of Hemant Kumar as a singer in this blog. With this, Hemant Kumar becomes the 10th singer to complete a century of his own songs in this blog.Regular visitors of this blog may recall that Hemant Kumar has also completed his century of songs in this blog as a music director sometime back. i cannot believe that the 2 of u who r such a knowledge house of those times ven’t heard this song.
and Atul, i think u ve not given the lyrics of the last stanza that is there in the video version

Fantastic!
Can’t believe I’ve never heard this song before, it is SO good.
But then most Hemant Kumar songs are, his voice is just so soothing to listen to.
And wow, Hemant Kumar has done the double!!! Considering he would get in on merit in either field (singing or music) in a “Hall of fame” list, he can be considered a true allrounder. 😉
Great to see Hemant da and Kishore da team up. Love this song.

Indeed, I too was surprised that I had never heard this song before.
Hemant Kumar is indeed a true musical allrounder.There are others, but in their case, they were predominant in one field as compared to other fields. Hopefully I will be able to get a few other artists to do doubles, but that will mean digging up lots of obscure songs where they figured in their lesser known avatar- viz C Ramchandra as a singer, Pradeep as a singer, etc.
