Hindi movies have several songs of the genre where the hero has a broken heart aften being betrayed in love. This genre of songs often tend to become repetitive after a while as far as their lyrics are concerned. The phrase “Toota huaa dil” viz “broken heart” often figures mandatorily in these songs.If one has heard one broken heart song, one may have heard them all- that is what often appears to music lovers.
But not always. There are cases when lyricists come up with original ideas for a song. Instead of talking of heart being broken (as if it is a car), here love is being talked about like it s an object that can beterurned to its owner. The man has received love from his beloved, and now, after being betrayed in love he wants to return the love back to his estranged beloved, in a bid to settle the account of love between the two of them.
The song is sung by Mukesh, a genius with a Midas touch when it came to singing this kind of songs. The song is picturised on Raj Kapoor. The intersting and original lyrics are written by Indeewar. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Nice song. I have been listening to Mukesh numbers today as it is my father’s birthday. He was a big Mukesh fan. If he was alive today, he would be 78.
