A wonderful composition by Vasant Desai.This song, once again, is a song that I remember from many years ago, having heard it many times on the radio. But I was not aware of any other details relating to it.
Having located this song recently once again on YouTube, I set about finding more information about it.
The movie is a lesser remembered V Shantaram production, ‘Sahyadri Ki Ladki’ (1966), starring Sandhya, Prabhakar Panshikar, Keshawrao Daate, Baburao Pendaarkar, Vatsala Deshmukh, Manjari Gadjkar, Shalini Abhyankar etc.
The movie deals with social and individual values. It is a story of Rani, who is born in a poor family. She is an accomplished singer and dancer, but is not allowed to work on stage. Circumstances prevail, and she has to work in the theatre. The story is about her tribulations and how she manages to succeed in face of family protests and a difficult theatre owner.
Since the story revolves around a theatre company, this movie has many songs – some classical dances, and some songs of deeply patriotic nature, built around the theme of 1857 war of independence. The lyrics are by Bharat Vyas, and the music is composed by Vasant Desai.This is one of the lighter songs from the movie, sung by Lata, accompanied by chorus. Classical compositions can be so lovely. Vasant Desai has created such a racy and melodious composition for this song.Only the audio of this song is available, but nonetheless, it is a wonderful treat.
