“Ziddi” (1948) is the first movie of Kishore Kumar as a solo playback singer. He had earlier sang as part of chorus in “Aath Din” (1946).
In “Ziddi” (1948), Kishore Kumar also got the opportunity of singing a duet song for the first time. And this duet was with Lata, who like Kishore Kumar was a struggling singer herself.
Here is this duet song from “Ziddi” (1948). This song is written by Prem Dhawan. Khemchand Prakash is the music director.
The song is picturised on Kamini Kaushal and a very young looking Dev Anand.

The film Ziddi was a landmark movie for Kishor Kumar,as ,pointed out rightly by you,it was his FIRST solo and duet song opportunity.
While his solo song,Marne ki duwaen kyon maangu, was written by Prof.Jazbii, his duet song was by Prem Dhawan.
In an interview to mr. Sumit Mitra of India Today dated 15-5-1985,Kishor Kumar had said about Ziddi,’ Though my name was not in the credits of the film,I acted in it as a Gardener, who gives very witty comments to the audience. In one scene I also help Dev Anand to come out of a ditch and then speak to him.’
In this interview,Kishor had announced his retirement and desire to settle in Khandwa.By this time he was charging Rs.35000/- for each recorded song !
In 1948,Kishor Kumar sang only 2 songs,one of which was a duet with Lata(later they sang 320 duets together).In 1949,he sang 3 songs,in 1950-he sang 10 songs and thereafter no count !
Incidentally, the Director of Ziddi was Shaahid Latif (he was husband of noted Urdu writer Ismat Chugtai),who directed his last film,Baharen Phir bhi Aayengi in 1966.
