I am aware of three movies called “Faraar” and they all came at exactly one decade intervals beginning from 1955. I have discussed songs from all these three movies in this blog.
I have discussed two songs from “Faraar” (1955) in the past. Here is another song from this movie.
This movie has rto be one of the earlier club dance songs that became quite a popular genre of songs in 1950s.We saw several such songs picturised on actresses that were predominantly dancers (Cuckoo, Helen etc) as well as leading ladies (viz Madhubala etc). One of the earliest , if not the earliest, leading lady to figure in such club dance songs was Geeta Bali. In threse songs, she would typically sing in the voice of another Geeta (viz Geeta Dutt).
This is a nice club song which shows a band playing a goan folk music tune in a Hotel and Geeta Bali sings and dances. The song is written by Prem Dhawan, and the lyrics are quite nice and contain well thought out words in it that not just rhyme, but also sound quitye appropriate for the song.
Anil Biswas is the music director of this nice club song whose music is clearly based on Goan/Konkani folk music.
