I have discussed as many as 8 songs from “Basant Bahaar” (1956) and I thought that I had discussed all the songs from this movie. but wait, there are still more songs in this movie.
Here is yet another timeless classic song from “Basant Bahaar” (1956). This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Kumkum. Shailendra is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra who had seen this movie in his childhood and he kept wondering why the dancer Kumkum was fluttering her eye lashes evey now and then while dancing. 🙂 . Yes, this song is picturised as a dance song on Kumkum, with Chandrashekhar and Om Prakash also visible in the picturisation.

Atul ji,
This is a very catchy and melodious song made by S-J very carefully as a part of their efforts to be one up on Baiju Bawara songs(read Naushad),as I had pointed out in an earlier posting on Basant Bahar.
Built in Raag Jhinjhoti and in Teental,Lata has done full justice to it.
S-J had made another song in Raaga Jhinjhoti, sung by Mukesh in 1956 only, but for the film ‘Chhoti Bahen’.Here the Taal was Kaherawa. This too was a masterpiece(Jaoon kahan bataa aye dil…)

Lovely song. Am surprised it was not posted yet. Enjoyed listening to it just now, after a long time.
