“Sant Tulsidas” (1939) is a movie which was based on the life of Goswami Tulsidas, the author of Ramcharitmanas. This movie had V. Pagnis, Vasanti, Leela Chitnis, K. Date, Ram Marathe, Kantilal, Susheela etc in it.

Vishnupant Pagnis had played the tile role of Tulsidas. He sang his own songs too.

Here is a song sung by V Pagnis. this song, which is dripping with bhakri ras, is written by Pt Indra Chandra. music is composed by Gyan Dutt.

I came across this song only just now. And it is a wonderful find from the earlier days of Hindi movie music.

Dear Atul,
This is the first time i have visited this site today. I am deeply touched and moved by the collection and the way the writers have presented the songs. It is like building up the tempo before reaching the song.
The song from Sant Tulsidas , Van Chale… is one which i use to him during my teens. After re visiting this song few minutes back, i ask why time has to move forward. I know stillness is not good. I think we will have live with this.
