Maine kahaa thhaa aana sunday ko sunday ko

“Ustaadon Ke Ustaad” (1963) was produced by an ambitiously named Production house called Films & Televisions, seeing that there used to be hardly any network of Television in India those days. Thnkfully, they at least produced Films, if not TVs or TV Serials. “Ustaadon Ke Ustaad” (1963) , which was directed by Brij, had Ashok Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Shakila, Anwar, Sheikh Mukhtar, Amar, Shakeela Banu Bhopali, Helen, Johnny Walker etc in it.
I guess that this movie was a Sheikh Mukhtaar kind of movie, where Shekh Mukhtaar deals in strongarm tactics while others indulge in weakarm tactics like romancing and singing songs. 🙂 In fact, I have noticed that Sheikh Mukhtaar movies tended to have the word “Ustaad” somewhere in the title. Names like “Do Ustaad” (1959), ‘Ustaadon Ke Ustaad”(1963) and ‘Ham Sab Ustaad Hain” (1965) readily come to mind which had Sheikh Mukhtar playing important roles in them.
Here is a song in which Shekh Mukhtar is seen though not heard. Here he is in disguise. I wonder how a hefty person towering over the others can ever be in disguise ? But then I have seen him disguised as a woman too in “Ham Sab Ustaad Hain” (1965). 😀
Here Shekh Mukhtar comes with Johny Walker and makes him sing and dance with Helen. He is apparently on the look out for baddies. The place incidentally is full of baddies, as movie watchers can readily notice.
This song is a wonderful song sung by Asha Bhonsle and Rafi and it is picturised on Helen and Johny Walker, with others (read Sheikh Mukhtaar and baddies) watching on.
The song is written by Asad Bhopali. Music is composed by Ravi.
This song is a highly hummable song that stays with the listeners long after the song has ended. It is a wonderful song to listen to and watch. I discovered this song only recently and I am sure music lovers will find this song just as enjoyable as I did.

The tune of this song was picked up from Connie Francis’s 1960 song ‘Never On Sunday’.
