“Moorti” (1945) was a movie produced by Ranjit Movietone. It was directed by Chaturbhuj Doshi. The movie had Motilal, Khursheed, Padma Banerjee, Yashwant Dube, Kamal Jamindar, Kaneez, Tara Bai etc. in it. Only the first two names in the cast are somewhat familiar. I have little idea about the other actors in the list.
The movie has some nice song in it that were frequently heard in Radio Ceylon’s “Purrani Filmon ke geet” programme in 1960s and later.
Here is an archtypical “puraani film ka geet” from “Moorti” (1945). It is sung by Khursheed. Pt Indra Chandra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Bulo C Rani.
Only the audio of this song is available but it is clear from the cast that the song was picturised on Khursheed herself.

Internet is completely silent on Pt. Indra Chandra or Pt. Indra. The silence is baffling, in view of the fact that he has penned some wonderful songs, including some great songs sung by the great singers like Saigal and Khursheed. May I request Sh. Arun Deshmukh to shed some light on his life and works. Since this blog is related to song, mostly a film song, the lyricist should also occupy some attention. I am not complaining because I have come across some of the rarest information regarding the lyricists of Hindi films through this blog only. I shall wait.
