Badnaam ho gaya dil bas aapki badaulat

Posted on: September 22, 2011

I am aware of a movie called “Aan Baan” (1956), but it turns out that there was another movie of the same name in 1972 as well. I am surprised that I should know about the 1956 movie of this name , but be totally oblivious of the 1972 movie of this name.

It turns out that “Aan Baan” (1972) was produced by Malik Chand Kochar and it was directed by Prakash Mehra. This movie has actors like Rajendra Kumar, Kumkum,Som Dutt, Rakhee , David Abraham, Jagdeep, Pran, Sunder, Kanhaiyalal, Anwar Hussein, Tabassum etc. So it can be seen that Rajendra Kumar was the sole actor that whom this movie was banking on. And I have always maintained that the main reason for the success of Rajendra Kumar was the music of his movies, and not Rajendra Kumar’s histrionics themselves. Take this movie for example. The songs of this movie failed to do well, and so did the movie. And the so called histrionics of Rajendra Kumar failed to rescue the movie. And that proves my axiom about the correlation between a hit Rajendra Kumar movie and its hit music. Show me one hit Rajendra Kumar movie which had flop music ! One cannot ! So QED. 🙂

Here is a mujra song from this movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Kumkum. Pran is also visible in the picturisation as a client.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Song-Badnaam ho gayaa dil bas aapki badaulat (Aan Baan) (1972) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

badnaam ho gayaa dil
haan haan haan
badnaam ho gayaa dil
bas aapki badaulat
hamne sajaayi mehfil
bas aapki badaulat
badnaam ho gayaa dil
bas aapki badaulat
hamne sajaayi mehfil
bas aapki badaulat
badnaam ho gayaa dil

hamse wafaa jo karte
ham kyun yahaan pe aate
hamse wafaa jo karte
ham kyun yahaan pe aate
ham bhi thhe phool ghar ke
ghar mein hi muskuraate
paayi hai kaisi manzil
bas aapki badaulat
badnaam ho gayaa dil
bas aapki badaulat
hamne sajaayi mehfil
bas aapki badaulat
badnaam ho gayaa dil

hasti mitaayi hamne
lekin na aap maane
hasti mitaayi hamne
lekin na aap maane
aurat ka pyaar kyaa hai
sarkaar ye na jaane
saara badan hai bismil
bas aap ki badaulat
badnaam ho gayaa dil
bas aapki badaulat
hamne sajaayi mehfil
bas aapki badaulat
badnaam ho gayaa dil

Kumkum, Pran and a mujra!!! and the eastman colour.

I love this.

Give me ashaji`s any song, I will listen without a murmur .
She sang many mujra songs(“anginath keh sakthe hain”), but all of mujra songs sung by ashaji are unique in my opinion
and every song suits to the actresses who were lip syncing the song.
Thanks Atulji
regards

This movie has a popular duet from Lata-Rafi: “Tum meri ho, mere sivah kisiki nahin, khaati ho qasam…”

Also, a song written by Gulshan Bawra, “Lo hum aaye dulhe bhaiyya ke baraati banke..”

it is quite possible that I was with my Uncles when they have watched this movie, when I was a ‘nanha-bachchaa’, and that is why I remember some songs of this movie and its name.
