“Yaasmeen” (1955) is a movie produced by Musical Pictures ! Yes, that is indeed the name of the production house that produced this movie.
A R Kardar is the director. The movie had Suresh and Vyjyantimala in lead roles. Other actors in the movie are Jayant, Rashid Khan, Shyam Kumar,Maruti, S.N.Bannerjee, Mumtaz, Rajan Haksar etc.
This movie is a musical blockbuster, with great songs coming out of every pore of the movie. Having said that, I am surprised that only two songs from this movie have been discussed in this blog. To make amends, here is another song from the movie.
This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Vyjyanti Mala and Suresh. Jaan Nisaar Akhtar is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.
It is a wonderful song to listen to. A timeless classic indeed ! And I am just reminded that today (28th September) is the birthday of Lata as well. So happy birthday and many happy returns of the day from this blog to the living legend of our times.

”यास्मीन – 1955” को हमेशा चितलकर और लता के अद्भुत संगम के लिए याद किया जाएगा ।
”आँखों मे समा जाओ, इस दिल मे रहा करना … ” इसी रूमानी संगम का एक उदाहरण है । ये गीत इतना नर्म, मुलायम और आत्मसार करने वाला है कि शायद इसकी रचना चितलकर ने बेहद रूमानी पलों में की होगी । यास्मीन में राजेंद्र कृष्ण की जगहं ‘जान निसार अख्तर साहब’ ने ली और उन्होनें इस गीत को बेहद नाजुक बोलों से पिरोया है ।
इतना हल्का साज और इतना अधिक गीत का असर केवल मात्र लता के सुरों, अख्तर साहब की शायरी और चितलकर साहब की खामोश सी लेकिन बेहद रूमानी लय के बिनाह पर ही संभव हो पाया है ।।
HMV ने इसे शायद इसीलिए लता के ” Rare Gems ” कैसेट मे इस गीत को जगहं दी है ।।
