Today (25th october) is the death anniversary of Sahir Ludhianvi. Sahir Ludhainvi, a stormy petrel among Hindi movie lyricists, stirred quite a few hornets’ nests’ during his time, which are well documented and which have been discussed in this blog too from time to time.
Here is a less known song penned by Sahir Ludhianvi during his earlier days as a lyricist. Since those were earlier days for him, those were the days of struggle for him as well as turmoils in his personal life. The lyrics of this song seem to reflect the turmoil that he was going though in his personal life.
This song is from “Doraaha” (1952) where he teamed up with Anil Biswas. Incidentally, he worked with anil Biswas in only two movies, other other such movie being “Chaar Dil Chaar Raahen” (1959).
On the occcasion of Sahir Ludhianvi’s death anniversary, here is this rare song from “Doraahaa” (1952) which is sung by Talat Mehmood. The lyrics and details of this song were sent to me by Mr Sadanand Kamath.

My interpretation is:
In terms of the logic of love, I have tightened up collar(lips)..
O (people of) the world, are you happy now?
I have swallowed the poison too.
