Though I have not kept track of it, I have a feeling that most songs picturised on Shammi Kapoor (in his Shammi Kapoor style movies) have been covered in this blog. I need to put all these songs in some proper tags so that keeping track of them becomes easier.
There are still a few Shammi Kapoor songs that have not yet been covered. Here is one such song. This song is from “Boy Friend” (1961). This movie, a N S Films productions was directed by N S (viz Naresh Saigal). The movie had Shammi Kapoor, Madhubala, Dharmendra,Achla Sachdev, Nishi, Sudesh Kumar, Maruti, Dhumal,Amirbai Karnataki, etc in it.
Here is this song which is sung by Rafi. The song is picturised on Shammi Kapoor who sings this song for a sleeping Madhubala.
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Just love this song. Unfortunately Madhubala’s health had deteriorated so much by the time this movie was made, that the movie sort of fizzles away in the second half. I believe a double had to be used in many scenes too.
But the songs are still pretty good. Apart from this song, I like also “dheere chal, dheere chal” and the song on the train, “mujhe apna yaar bana lo”.

There’s one line missing from videos and lyrics of this song: Salaam is nashili umar ko salaam. It ought to be at the end of second stanza. Can anyone enlighten how it went missing. Was it edited/censored out?
