We in this blog discuss old songs that are well known as well not so well known and even seemingly non existent obscure songs. Despite discussing so many songs, there are still some extremely well known songs that are not yet covered. In case of many such songs, I thought that I had already discussed them, but I was wrong.
Take this song from “Upkaar” (1967) from instance. All these days, I was under the impression that the song already forms part of the blog. So I was surprised, though not shocked, when I received the lyrics of this song from nahm.
This iconic song from “Upkaar” (1967) is sung by Mukesh. It is picturised as a “get together” cum party song. In this song, Manoj Kumar is asked to sing a song. Like an archtypical Hindi movie hero, Manoj Kumar makes the most of this opportunity to apprise Asha Parekh, his love interest in the movie, of his feelings towards her.
The nice and wonderful lyrics of this song, which are so well known by now, are written by Qamar Jalalabadi. Kalyanji Anandji composed the music.
