Jalwe tumhaare hon meri ho nazar

While looking at the picturisation of this song, I wondered why this song does not qualify to be called a Mujra song. As it is, Mujra songs are those songs where the clients are ordinary folks or spoilt nawaabs. If the same dance is performed in a royal court, it becomes a royal court (Rajdarbaar) dance.
Here is a Rajdarbaar dance from a movie called “Baaghi” (1964). This B grade movie was a Mukul Movies production. It was directed by Ram Dayal. The star cast consisted of names like Pradeep Kumar, Leela Naidu, Vijaya Chaudhary, Mumtaz, Jeevan, Veena, Ulhas, Naaz, Jagdeep etc.
This dance is performed by Mumtaz is a royal court where royals like Pradeep Kumar,Jayant etc are present. A foreign queen (seing that she wears a tiara) is seated beside Pradeep Kumar. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
As the song ends, we see that this song also qualifies to be called a villain’s den song, seeing that the Mumtaz and co are acting at the behest of insurgents, as the royals would put it. 🙂
Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta and this song is a tribute from this blog to the underestimated musical genius who left for the heavenly abode on this day (14th january) exactly twenty years ago in 1991.
This song also happnes to be the 1600th song of Lata in this blog as a playback singer.
