A gem of a soft romantic duet. ‘Mere Armaan Mere Sapne’ is a somewhat better remembered film from early sixties (1963). Produced under the banner of Lalit Kala Mandir, Bombay, this film is directed by Arvind Soni. The lyrics for this film are penned by Rajendra Krishan, and the wonderful compositions are by N Dutta. The film has a good star cast that includes Pradeep Kumar, Jaishree Gadkar, Aseem Kumar, Kumari Naaz, Sumitra Devi, Pran, Asit Sen, Agha, Manmohan Krishan, Badri Prasad, Johnny Whisky, Paul Mahendra, Padma Devi, Paro Devi, Samar Chatterjee etc.
The singing voices in this song are Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle. The video clip is not too clear. Given the cast listing, I would guess that the on screen performers in this clip are Aseem Kumar and Kumari Naaz. I request other readers to please confirm whether I have made a correct identification.
The music is soft, and the rendering is slow paced and very comfortable. Two people in love, expressing their feelings for each other, and making promises for an eternity of love. The words are just so beautifully crafted. And the music, under the baton of N Dutta, is simply wonderful. Enjoy this, oh so delightful melody.

MERE ARMAN MERE SAPNE-1963 was a mediocre film with nothing new in the story.Produced and Directed by Arvind Sen-who also wrote the s/play-it had a story by Binoy Chatterjee and Dialogues by Vishnu Sharma.
Kumar(pradeep K.) is a brilliant student with a bright future,who is slated to marry Prabha(Jayashri Gadkar) a rich man’s daughter.But suddenly,Kumar’s father(Badri prashad) dies but not before taking a promise from Kumar to look after his younger brother Arun(Ashim kumar).
Arun is not interested in studies and flirts with Shanti(Naaz).Kumar helps him and Shanti encourages him and he passes with Ist class.Before he is sent to city for further education,he is engaged to Shanti.
Arun joins kumar’s old college where he meets Vilas(Agha) an old classmate of Kumar.Vilas once saves him from ragging and takes him out to the city streets where Vilas meets Kalpana(Sumitra devi) who is a society girl.Arun is attracted to her.Kalpana is originally a good girl but gets into clutches of Pran(Pran) and is spoiled.One day,jogeshwar(Asit sen)sees Arun with Kalpana,goes to the villege and tells his mother(Padma Devi),who dies withthe shock.Kumar is also angry and goes to city to meet Arun.
Meanwhile,being a good girl basically,Kalpana throws Arun out of her house.Pran is angry and he murders Kalpana.Kumar reaches there only to find her dead body.He is arrested and tried in court by the Govt.Pleader whose wife is his old flame Prabha.Prabha meets him in lock up,gets all the truth and defends him in the court.Kumar is released,as pran is cought by the police with proof.
Kumar and arun return to Villege and Arun marries Shanti.
