Dil ke kareeb aa gayaa dekha jo door se

This article is written by Sudhir, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.
As I encounter more songs, heard and unheard, composed by N Dutta, I find that Asha Bhosle is the singer who has apparently sung most of his songs (with female voice). Here is a lovely melody from an obscure film, ‘Mohini’ (1957). In this film, of the 9 songs, six are sung by Asha ji.
This film is a historical saga produced under the banner of Navkala Niketan, Bombay. The film is produced by Ramesh Vyas and is directed by Ramanlal Desai. The list of main actors includes Nirupa Roy, Shahu Modak, Shakila, Rajkumar, Roop Kumar, Krishna Kumari, Madan Puri, Sunder, SK Prem, Kamal, Roop Lakshmi, Indira, Jagdish Kanwal, Shravan Kumar etc. Somehow I have a feeling that the name Rajkumar listed here is not the same Rajkumar (of Dil Ek Mandir (1963) and Heer Ranjha (1970) etc.). I request other readers to please add more information about this film, and also to confirm whether my statement about Rajkumar is true.
The songs of this film are written by two poets, Raja Mehndi Ali Khan, and Hasrat Jaipuri. This particular song is penned by Raja Mehndi Ali Khan. The music is composed by N Dutta. On screen, the song is performed by Shakila, and she addressed this song to Shahu Modak. There is another actress on the screen, who is a friend or an attendant of Shakila. I think she is Krishna Kumari, but once again, I request other readers to please confirm.
Enjoy this gem of a melody from N Dutta, a song of love a first sight.
dil ke kareeb aa gaye dekha jo door se
darr hai ke ho na jaaye mohabbat huzoor se
(You) moved close to my heart
In just a glimpse from afar
I have a fear
I may be falling in love with you
aate hi saamne ye nigaahen lajaa gayeen
dil mein jo aarzoo’ein thhee hotthon pe a gayeen
hum mar mitey jo aapne dekhaa guroor se
My eyes lowered bashfully
Just facing you
And the longings in the heart
Rose up to my lips
Just your one glance of dignity
And I laid my life at your feet
kehti hain ye nigaahen itni huyi khataa
pehli nazar mein aapko dil hum ne de diyaa
sharmaa na jaayen hum aji dekho na ghoor ke
These eyes, they say
It is my fault
That my heart went over to you
At first sight itself
I feel bashful, blushed
Please do not stare at me so
hansne ki ye adaa’ein, mohabbat ki shokhiyaan
betaab dil pe gir gayeen bechain bijliyaan
badle na lijiye ji, kisi beqasoor se
Your smiles
And playful wiles of love
Feel like fervent bolts of lightning
To my eager heart
Please do not play these games
With an innocent, naïve heart

I know one Krishna Kumari, who is famous in south indian movies like tamil and kannada and she is related to I think anohter south indian movie famous actress Sahukar janki.
This krishna kumari must be from north,She is a news to me.Arunji may be the best person to comment on this.

There is one photo of KRISHAN KUMARI, in the photo gallery compiled by Surjit Singhji from the movie KHUDA KA BANDA.
She does not look like the actress played the role of female attendant in this movie.

I hope Surjit Singh ji does not mind for using the link, for identifying the name of the actress.

Another link to Krishna Kumari :
She features in the Baiju bawra famous song :”Door koi gaaye, dhun ye sunaaye”along with meena kumari.
Shamshad Begum`s voice was lip synced by Krishna Kumari.
This is pointed out by CINEPLOT and our ArunKumar Deshmukhji

Prakash ji,
I was under the impression that Baiju Bawra Krishnakumari is the south indian Krishnakumari, but it seems I was wrong.Though the Telugumovies.com site quoted southern KK’s acting in 3 Hindi films,it seems to be a wrong info.
When Cineplot refuted my claim,I raised this issue in the RMIM forum, where many experts and historians of Hindi films and Music are regular members.Even Mr.Surjit Singh is not sure about it and it was emphatically denied that the south KK ever acted in any Hindi film.
She seems to be the punjabi actress Krishnakumari(Rajinder Kaur) II.
There was a Krishnakumari I in the 30s and 40s also, but she is different.

Sudhir ji,
MOHINI-1957 was a mythological film with lot of Magic etc.
The Rajkumar in this film was NOT the Jaani Raajkumar of waqt etc,but may be Rajkumar gupta or Yadav or pande.I dont recollect his face now, because I had seen this film more than 40 years ago.
Raja Ugrasen goes for hunting and ends up getting into the web of a sorceress Sundari whom he brings to his palace to marry. She is gracefully accepted by the existing Maharani who is pregnant with a child, who,it is predited, will be a mighty emperor.Sundari is jealous and instigates the king to have her killed. The killers take maharani to thr jungle, take out her eyes as a proof and leave her alive. She is found and nursed by a Bhil king. She delivers a baby boy.She works as a maid. The boy grows to be Vikram, now 18 years old and rearing to take king’s revenge.
Meanwhile,Princess sugunavati is kidnapped and the king announces 1/2 kingdom and the princess to the finder.Pratap,a friend of Vikram makes a magic flying horse,on which Vikram goes and finds the princess. The king is happy and makes him the Senapati.Sundari recognises him and plans to kill him,but the princes who is in his love foils the plan and saves Vikram.Together,Vikram and Princess expose Sundari to the King.King is angry and executes Sundari. The Maharani is called back with honour and needless to mention that vikram and princess get married.
