“Aazaad” (1955) was a movie which was produced and directed by S MN S Naidu. He wanted the songs of the movies to be recorded within one month and approached the leading music director of Bombay, viz Naushad to compose the music of this movie (9 songs) within that target period. Naushad snubbed him, saying that it was not possible to create 9 songs in one month. Then Mr Naidu approached other leading music directors and they all refused to take up the assgnment.
Finally C Ramchandra took up the challenge. He created nine songs within the target period of one month, despite numerous hurdles. One such hurdle was that he was unable to get Talat Mehmood to give playback for Dilip Kumar. Then he himself sang for Dilip Kumar and imitated Talat Mehmood’s voice so well that many industry insiders were fooled. Lyricist Shailendra bet that the male voice in this movie was Talat Mehmood’s only to lose the bet.
Six out the nine movies of “Aazaad” (1955) have already been covered in the blog. Here is the seventh song from the movie. It is sung by Lata, (with a few brief words by a male voice) and it is picturised on Meena Kumari. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.

Now only two beautiful songs are needed to complete Azaad.
1,Kitni javan hai raat koi–Lata
2,Baliye o baliye–Lata-Usha for dancing sisters Sai-Subbulakshmi.
They are available at You-tube but without a write-up from persons like you. So can’t enjoy.
