Ham tumhaare ho chuke hain

This article is written by Sadanand Kamath, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.
In the financial markets to which I belonged until my retirement, there is an oft repeated remark that not even a die-hard practitioner or expert in the financial markets can claim that he knows everything about the markets. This is mainly on account of the fact that financial markets are dynamic by nature. How true this maxim is in the realm of old Hindi film songs where dynamism flows from unearthing old gems and some related unknown anecdotes.
After retirement, I was making good my lost time in keeping abreast of old Hindi film songs when I realised that my knowledge about the old Hindi film songs was a fraction of what was needed for an expert. This was confirmed when I came across this wonderful blog. In fact, my interest in old Hindi film songs got revived only after joining this site. I came across some unheard songs almost every day and some unknown facts about the songs discussed in the blog. Many songs jogged my memory which I had completely forgotten. I have yet to ‘unearth’ fully, many of the readers’ comments on the blog and I am sure some of them would be nothing less than gems.
Recently, I listened to a few songs from some unknown films on YT. It was only after I listened to these songs that I realised that I had come out of my longest amnesia in sofar as these songs were concerned. Yes, I had heard these songs nearly 40-50 years back. One of these songs is ‘hum hamaare ho chuke hain’ from the film RANGEELA RAJA (1960). This action film was produce dunder the banner of Diamond Jubilee Productions and directed by Esmail (never heard his name). The star cast included Mahipal, Shashikala, Kumkum and Bhagwan. The song rendered by Talat Mehmood and Sudha Malhotra was written by Asad Bhopali and set to music by Pandit Shivram. Only the audio clip of this song is available which abruptly ends without the repeat of the mukda. So I have included them in the lyrics.
The romantic mood of this simple worded song has been enhanced by the lovely renditions of Talat Mehmood and Sudha Malhotra.

I was not aware of Pandit Shivram until I heard his couple of songs on this blog. Thereafter I searched for his more songs and in that process, I got this song few days back.
In some places, I find his name accredited as Pandit Shivram Krishna. I guess they are the same MD.
