Tana dhim

This blog is about OLD Hindi movie songs. So this blog is expected to attract visitors of a particular age group. What is the age profile of majority of visitors to this blog ? Popular impression, based on hunch, would be that most visitors, regulars and contributors of this blog are middle aged people, in their 40s or more. Let me hasten to clarify though that we all feel quite young by heart though. I have repeated it often that mentally I do not feel one day older than 12 years of age. 🙂 And same is the case with other regulars of the blog too.
The regulars, like Raja, and even I, have mentioned that we were unable to appreciate “old” songs during our younger days. By our definition, any song that was created before we were born was an old song and therefore boring. This is true for all youngsters of any generations. They are likely to enjoy mostly the music of the present. With time, maturity may come and a few of them may begin to discover the pleasures of Hindi movie music of the golden era.
It comes as a sounce of great pleasure to find that even some teenagers are fans and even regulars of this blog. Like the senior regulars, even one teenage regular has now decided to take the plunge and become a contributor of lyrics. This teenager is none other than “Peevesie”, whose mom became the lyrics contributor just the other day. It is like Mother and Daughter going to the same class together. 🙂 In fact, I remember that it was Peevesie who had introduced her mother to this blog in the earlier days of this blog. Having more than one regular from one household is always a welcome bonus for this blog. 🙂
The song that Peevesie has chosen is from “Zara Si Zindagi” (1983) and I must admit that I heard this song for the first time only just now. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and S P Balasubramanyam. This song is written by Anand Bakshi and music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
This song is picturised on Anita Raj and Kamal Hassan. Peevesie informs me that the song was originally a Tamil song which was picturised on Sri Devi and Kamal Hassan.
I welcome the youngest lyrics contributor of this blog toour burgeoning musical bandwagon.

Peevesie,
Welcome to the contributor’s team. It’s a pleasure to have a younger generation in the team. It makes “middle aged” feel young 🙂 . So, you do believe that following Mom’s footstep is always beneficial, at least to others 🙂 . Hope to see more songs from you.

Congrats on your contributor debut here, Peevisie. You’ve brought down the average age of the contributors here by at least half. 😉 (Oops, suddenly I seem to have lost a lot of friends. ;-)).
Good to see that this blog attracts the interest of even youngsters. One of the goals of this blog is to be a repository for old songs for posterity. If youngsters themselves participate in this process, that is a huge boost for this blog, I would expect.

Thanks Peevisie,
This is one of my favourite song from the movie, picturised by the ace Tamil film director K.Balchander and sung by deadly combination of Ashaji and S.P.Balasubramaniam ji
Main thoda iss gaane ke lyrics bhejne mein hichkichaa rahaa tha,
Kaaran ye tha ke thoda latest gaanaa hai, blog ke standard ko dekhaa jaaye tho,
Par aapne meraa kaam aasaan kar diyaa,Thanks again for the lyrics.
Iss gaane ka doosraa version bhi hai kyaa yaa
iss gaane ko movie mein,do baar picturise kiyaa gayaa hai kyaa?
Koi jaankaari hai ??,
maine Movie nahin dekhaa hai issi liye poochh rahaa hoon
regards

Peevesie ji,
Welcome to the blog in a new avtar now.
I am one of the, perhaps, oldest regular contributors of this blog and you are the youngest (in age, that is).
Apropos what Atul ji has said about youngsters (Raja ji also) liking older songs,I feel that Sangeet is Universal, all encompassing and timeless.
There is no age to like a song.Anyone can like any song at any age.
What is important is what is the inclination of the liking.
well,no sermons or serious discussions,simply—Welcome !

hello everyone,
thanks for the warm welcome. I have been following the blog regularly for the past three years though i am not good with commenting here. and yes mum is primary reason I am so nondiscriminatory towards the year of release of a song(can i say unlike atul here who refuses to believe our generation has beautiful songs too?).
I hope one day, just as this blog has allowed me to discover so many old songs I will be able to introduce all of you to a few newer songs that are as beautiful.
but yes the older songs have a charm of their own.
Thanks for the warm welcome again
-Peevesie
(deshmukhji, please ji mat bulayien hume. bohut zyada choti hun uske liye)

Wow Great work by Peeveesie. May your tribe grow. I think the term ‘middle aged’ should be laid to rest now. We are the age-defiers.
