“Kanyaadaan” (1968) was a movie with great songs but not so great storyline. In other words, the movie did not deserve the song that it got. This is the view of Memsaab, who must be the most tolerant reviewer of Hindi movies that one can come across.
I have discussed as many as four songs from this movie, and all of the are awesome songs.
Here is another song from the movie which I have never heard before, and not too many people may have heard this song either. I think that this song may have been excluded from the movie because only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this song.
PS-This song was not included in the movie, as informed by Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our inhouse encyclopaedia.
This song is sung bt Rafi. Neeraj is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

PS-This song is not mentioned in HFGK. Apparently records of this song were not made though the song was very much there in the movie.

This song was NOT there in the film,as it was recorded but not even filmed since it was decided NOT to have it in the film.Obviously,the DVDs will not have it.
Khyati ji, This time the DVD wala was not at fault.Pardon him.

i dont remember the movie,tho i have seen ..but ages back
came across this video,which i think is a genuine bit…. the picturisation gels with the lyrics

This song is very much in the film, albeit in the film, it is presented partially; only the first two stanzas of the lyrics, as per the full audio of the song given in this article. The online link for the video clip of this song is now available at
It is not in the Geet Kosh. The reason for that could have been that this song is not released on records. It is certainly is a rarity in that case. But yes, very much in the film. I also checked the YouTube for the full movie option. The link for the full movie is at

Please check again, since the song is about a minute only in the film, it is possible to have missed it. Or else, you are right, the DVD you have maybe a victim of the manufacturer’s scissors.

I don’t remember this song in the movie. I have DVD and it doesn’t have this song either. 😦 . Yeh DVD wale bhi na gajab ke log hai. Itana achha gana kaise kaat sakte hai. Thanks for this song.
