“Kasturi” (1954) was a Sargam Pictures presentation. This movie was directed by someone called Rajendra Kumar (not the movie actor I am sure). The “star” cast of this movie had Sajjan, Samson, Nimmi, Bipin Gupta, Anand Prasad, Alka etc in it.
Two songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. A special thing about this movie was that this was the last Hindi movie of Pankaj Mullick as a singer and composer both.
Here is a superb philosophical song from this movie. This song is sung by Pankaj Mullick. Brajendra Gaud is the lyricist and music is composed by Pankaj Mullick.
Listening to this song is a divine experience and it calms one’s nerves. That is what I experienced just now when I heard this song for the first time.

Yep Arunji. After reading your comments, I searched and read the article, saw few pics of his 80th b’day celebration in April 2009. Sixty years in the film industry!

I was not aware that this was PM’s last Hindi Movie as a singer and composer. Thanks for the info Atulji. Wish Hindi Cinema had more of his songs after 1954.
Second lady in the song is Shammi. (Need confirmation)

So, he left this movie halfway and left for Calcutta for personal reason. Stii, I wish he could come back to Hindi Cinema. He must have continued to serve Bengali Cinema.
