“Naya Daur” (1957) was a pathbreaking movie of its time. Like most pathbreaking movies, it had a storyline that was different and therefore a risky proposition at the box office.
B R Chopra had the courage of conviction. One year ago, he had directed “Ek Hi Raasta” (1956), which was a movie on the daring subject of widow remarriage. His well wishers had warned him against making a movie on this risky topic, but he stuck to his guns. To his credit, and also to the credit of the movie going public, the movie did well and B R Chopra’s stand was vindicated.
“Naya Daur” (1957) was no less risky a proposition. This time he not only directed the movie, he also produced it. Making a movie like this as the maiden venture of his production house is a risky proposition and he was told that this movie was doomed to fail, but B R Chopra once again stuck to his guns and pulled it off yet again. In future too, he would take up socially relevant (viz risky topics) like a tawaif seeking social respectability (Sadhana), unwed motherhood (Dhool Ka Phool), communal harmony (Dharmputra) etc and these movies were well received at the box office too.
Music was one of the strong suits of these movies and played very important part in the success of these movies. This is especially true for “Naya Daur” (1957). This movie really ushered in a Naya Daur (new era) for the careers of several people, including B R Chopra, who production House got launched in grand style with the success of this movie. Later, this B R Chopra would achieve great milestones, not only in movie making, but later in TV serial making as well. The mega TV serial “Mahabharat” was also a B R Chopra production.
It all began with the success of “Naya Daur” (1957). The songs of this movie are popular even today. As many as five songs of this movie have been discussed in the blog. Here is the sixth song from this movie. This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Dilip Kumar. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist and music is composed by O P Nayyar.

aana hai to aa
raah mein kuch pher nahin hai
bhagwaan ke ghar der hai
andher nahin hai
aana hai to aa raah mein kuch pher nahin hai
bhagwaan ke ghar der hai andher nahin hai
aana hai to aa raah mein kuch pher nahin hai
bhagwaan ke ghar der hai andher nahin hai
aana hai to aa
aaaaaaa
jab tujh se na suljhen tere uljhe huey dhande
jab tujh se na suljhen tere uljhe huey dhande
bhagwan ke insaaf pe sab chhod de bande
khud hi teri mushkil ko wo aasaan karegaa
khud hi teri mushkil ko wo aasaan karegaa
jo tu nahin kar paaya wo bhagwan karegaa
bhagwan karegaa
aana hai to aa raah mein kuch pher nahin hai
bhagwaan ke ghar der hai andher nahin hai
aana hai to aa
aaaaaaa
kehne ki zaroorat nahin aana hi bahat hai
kehne ki zaroorat nahin aana hi bahat hai
is dar pe teraa sheesh jhukaana hi bahat hai
jo kuch hai tere dil mein wo sab uss ko khabar hai
jo kuch hai tere dil mein wo sab uss ko khabar hai
bande tere har haal pe maalik ki nazar hai
bande tere har haal pe maalik ki nazar hai
maalik ki nazar hai
aana hai to aa raah mein kuch pher nahin hai
bhagwaan ke ghar der hai andher nahin hai
aana hai to aa
aaaaaaa
bin maange bhi milti hain yehaan man ki muraaden
bin maange bhi milti hain yehaan man ki muraaden
dil saaf ho jinkaa wo yehaan aa ke sadaa den
miltaa hai jahaan nyaye wo darbaar yehi hai
miltaa hai jahaan nyaye wo darbaar yehi hai
sansaar ki sab se badi sarkaar yehi hai
sansaar ki sab se badi sarkaar yehi hai
sarkaar yehi hai
aana hai to aa raah mein kuch pher nahin hai
bhagwaan ke ghar der hai andher nahin hai
aana hai to aa
aaaaaaa

Atul ji,
You have written a very good note on this song and also have underlined the fact that NAYA DAUR was a path breaking film which firmly established BRChopra as a producer with a social sense.
When the shooting plan of Naya Daur were being made,it was felt that the outdoor shooting should be atleast 50% of the toatl footage. They needed a dry land where as per Shankar’s words,” yahan to kheti badi bhi nahi ho sakti”.
A stretch of dry land in Bhopal area was selected where even the Bridge work was done. Then for the Temple scene-for above song-and for the fight of Dilip and Ajit, a site was needed.
They selected Jejuri Temple which is on a small hillock and Saswad village. Both were near to Poona and convinient for the shooting purpose.
The above song is shot in and around the Jejuri Khandoba Temple(Shiva Temple),on a small hill.

Thanks for these information. I am vaguely aware of these places near Bhopal and Poona. I am sure these places have now become far more populated than what they were more than half a century ago.
