Ravi made his debut as a music director in 1955 and he composed music for over 110 Hindi movies during his long and successful career. Assuming that there were 8 songs on an average in each of his movies, he has composed some 900 sings in his Hindi movie career as a music director.
When one looks at the statistics of this blog, as many as 76 out of these 110 movies are represented in this blog and 25 % of all Ravi compositions have been discussed in this blog. So it is a matter of time when the blog will contain almost all of Ravi compositions.
Ravi’s talent, as also his ability to get alongwith people who matter, ensured that he worked with big banners for long. For instance, he was the settled music director for all Goel Cine corporations movie throughout the life of Devendra Goel, beginning with “Vachan” (1955). Ravi was also the settled music director for B R Films from 1960s till 1980s. South Indian production houses, renowled for their professionalism and disciplined working, also loved to work with Ravi.
“Khandaan”(1965) , a movie where Ravi was signed up as the music director was a South Indian Production. It was a Vasu Films presentation. It was directed by Bhim Singh and the starcast included Sunil Dutt, Nutan, Lalita Pawar, Om Prakash, Pran, Sudesh Kumar, Mumtaz, Sulochana Chatterji, Mohan Choti, Manmohan Krishna, Helen etc.
The songs of this movie went on to become big rage throughout India. They were so popular that Ravi finally won Filmfare awarded for being the best music director of the year for this movie.
Three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is another song from the movie. This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Sunil Dutt holding a small kid and singing this song. The song could well be called a male lullaby where the father sings the lullaby to his child, and dreams of his child going on to become successful in his life. Here the dreams of the father are rather modest. He wants his child to grow up and become a good human being and the protector of his mother.
