“Sindoor” (1947) is a movie about which very little information is available even on “authentic” sites. But we in this blog now have all the details about this movie thanks to our own inhouse encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh. Here is the information that Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh shares with us about this movie :-

SINDOOR(1947),a Filmistan production was produced, directed, acted by Kishore Sahu. Not only this he also wrote the story, dialogues and one song in it. Additionally, he has sung also a song in it !

The Hero was Kishore Sahu. The Heroine was Shamim and the cast cosisted of Gulab, Sushil Sahu, Ramesh Gupta, Rajendra, Pratima Devi, Paro, Moni Chatterjee and others.

This film was released on 1-1-1947.

This was a revolutionary movie in those days, as it tackled the issue of re-marriage of widows.

The story revolves round the family of a wellknown cotractor of lucknow Shiv prasad Tiwari. He lives with his mother(dadi ma),second wife(maaji),elder son Beni and younger son Ratan. His daughter is already married and away.

One of their distant relations Mausi lives in Tulsighat with her young widow daughter and her small child.

Shiv prasad brings the widow- Meera (Shameem) and her child to Lucknow, where his elder son Beni (Kishor Sahu) loves and wants to marry her.

The entire film is full of melodramatic scenes with final happy outcome after a long speech by ShivPrasad. As you rightly guessed, Sushil Sahu(real brother of K.Sahu) plays the role of the spoiled step brother Ratan’s role in the film.

Khemchand prakash used several (now) less known singers in this movie, like Sushil Sahu,Paro,Naseem Akhter,S.L.Puri,Kishore Sahu and Moti in 3 songs.

The songs of this movie have by now become as obscure as the movie. But as many as three songs from this movie have already been discussed in the blog.

Here is the fourth song from this movie. It is sung by Amirbai Karnataki who excels in this song, as always. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.

Only the audio of this song is available, but I guess that this song was picturised on Shameem.

Song-O duniya banaane waale kyaa yahi hai duniya teri (Sindoor)(1947) Singer-Amirbai Karnataki, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-Khemchand Prakash

Lyrics

O duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri

is duniyaa ki bhari sabhaa mein
is duniyaa ki bhari sabhaa mein
lut gayi duniyaa meri
lut gayi duniyaa meri
kyun lut gayi duniyaa meri
o duniyaa banaane waale
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri

dil mein dukh honthon par aahen
dil mein dukh honthon par aahen
sar par hain ghanghor ghataayen
sar par hain ghanghor ghataayen
o chaand banaane waale
ae chaand banaane waale
kyun meri raat andheri
o duniyaa banaane waale
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri

dukhiyon ke ghar aataa hai tu
dukhiyon ke ghar aataa hai tu
dukh ki aag bujhaataa hai tu
dukh ki aag bujhaataa hai tu
o aag bujhaane waale
kyun jal gayi nagri meri
jal gayi nagri meri
kyun jal gayi nagri meri
o duniyaa banaane waale
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri
o duniyaa banaane waale
kyaa yahi hai duniyaa teri
