Among all the movies based on the story of “Devdas”,”Devdas”(1955) is arguably the most memorable one in all respects, and unarguably so as far as its music is comcerned. The musical team of this movie, as well as the team on whom the songs were picturised cannot be replicated again.
Here is one song from this movie which was still missing from the blog. This song is a Mujra song which is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Vyjyanti Mala. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman. Lata, Vyjyati Mala, Sahir Ludhianvi, S D Burman. What a team ! No wonder one can keep listening to this song and watch the picturisation repeatedly without tiring. And that is what music lovers have done for more than half a century. It is timeless music indeed !

A very beautiful song. Made more beautiful by the presence of beautiful Vyjyanthimala! By the way, Johnny Walker and Pran are guest artistes who appear only in this song! Motilal was such a fantastic actor! It’s a pity that he was under utilised by the Hindi movie world. His acting in ‘Devdas’ and ‘Jagthe Raho’ are unforgettable!
