“Ek Kali Muskaayi”(1968) was a Panchdeep Chitra Production. The movie was directed by Vasant Joglekar. This movie was meant to introduce the director’s daughter, viz. Meera Joglekar as a lead actress in Hindi movies. Here she was cast opposite Joy Mukherjee. Other actors in the cast included Ashok Kumar, Mehmood, Om prakash, Nirupa Roy,
Lalita Pawaar, Nana Palsikar, Sunder, Neelam, Malika etc.
The movie as well as the debutant actress failed to create any ripples at the box office and elsewhere, though.
The movie had some nice songs in it and they too suffered as a result.
As many as three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is a lesser known song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata and one can safely guess that the song was picturised on Meera Joglekar. But the video of this song does not seem to be available. So this could well be a case of a song which was excluded fropm the movie. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist of this song and music is composed by Madan Mohan.

The song was there in the film when I saw it then… I think the first film that Lata got as as break in Hindi films, Aapki sewamein was also produced by Vasant Joglekar and had music by Datta Dajvekar. His next one was after this film had music by Hridaynath Mangeshkar and had some Asha songs that were originally done in Marathi… Hindi versions of Jivalaga and Ye re ghana as O baanvare and o re piya…
Rafi title song of this film has lyrics that sound like “though she’s a alhad nadaan” or am I not understanding the actual lyrics? 🙂
