Maine kaha babuji itna bataaoge

Posted on: April 6, 2012

If a movie title has nouns like “Behan”,”Bahu”, Bhabhi” etc in it preceded by adjectives like “Badi”, “Chhoti” etc then one can safely conclude that sacrificing characters lie ahead in the movie and unless one is masochistic in nature, one needs to steer clear of such movies.

One great thing about these movies is the music though. One should listen to the songs (and watch the picturiation of the song) as standalone offerings and move on. That is what I do, not only with such movies, but with most movies.

“Chhoti Bhabhi” (1950) was released just one year after “Badi Behan” (1949). “Badi Behan” (1949) had superb songs in it. “Chhoti Bhabhi” is no different. It may not be just a coincidence that the two movies had the same music directors, vz Husnlal Bhagatram.

Here is a delightful song from “Chhoti Bhabhi” (1950). This song is a romantic song of the kind that is sweet and innocent and gently naughty, all at the same time. It this song, a young and pretty Nargis asks Karan Dewan how much he loves her.

This cute song is sung by Lata and Rafi. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.

Song-Maine kahaa babuji itna bataaoge (Chhoti Bhaabhi)(1950) singers-Lata, Rafi, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)

maine kahaa baabuji
o maine kahaa baabuji
itnaa bataaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke chale to na jaaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke chale to na jaaoge
main ne kahaa baabuji
o main ne kahaa baabuji
itnaa bataaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke chale to na jaaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke chale to na jaaoge

itna bataao tumhen ham se pyaar hai
kitna pyaar hai
kitna pyaar hai
kitna
itna bataao tumhen ham se pyaar hai
kitna pyaar hai
kitna pyaar hai
kitna
itna ke itna
itna ke itna
itnaa
un hoon
itnaa
un hoon
bulbul ko phool se jitna
bulbul ko phool se jitna
phool se jitnaa

bulbul ko phool se jitnaa
roop ke baagon mein aayegi khizaan bhi
o mere bulbul
chale to na jaaoge
o mere bulbul
chale to na jaaoge
main ne kahaa baabuji
o main ne kahaa baabuji
itnaa bataaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke
chale to na jaaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke
chale to na jaaoge

phir se bataao tumhen
ham se pyaar hai kitnaa
pyaar hai kitnaa
pyaar hai kitnaa
phir se bataao tumhen
ham se pyaar hai kitnaa
pyaar hai kitnaa
pyaar hai kitnaa
itna ke itna
itna ke itna
itnaa
bas itnaa
nahin itnaa
parwaane ko shamaa se jitnaa
parwaane ko shamaa se jitnaa
shamaa se jitnaa

parwaane ko shamaa se jitnaa
shamaa kabhi jale kabhi bujhe more saajna
o parwaane kahin udd to na jaaoge
o parwaane kahin udd to na jaaoge
main ne kahaa baabuji
o main ne kahaa baabuji
itnaa bataaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke
chale to na jaaoge
o dil meraa
o dil meraa tod ke
chale to na jaaoge

Atulji, you are hilarious :-). Your comment about steering clear of tear-jerker movies unless we are masochistic in nature had me LOL-ing. I avoid such movies like the plague :-). But it is undeniable that such movies have lovely songs and I am CRAZY for old Hindi songs! Currently, I have about 6300 songs in my iTunes library and I credit at least 500 songs to you since I stumbled onto your blog about 3 months ago.

My husband calls me “chaar aane wali audience” because I watch mostly light-hearted stuff movies…..LOL.

I wanted to know more about you but you haven’t given any details about yourself anywhere on this site. I was a chemical engineer but am a home-maker now for the past 20 plus yrs. I am not very computer savvy, so please can you inform me where you have given a brief description of yourself on this site?

Salaam and duas,

Sameena

Thanks. I didn’t visit the “about this blog” but visited the home page to find out about you, hence my query. It was a case of bagal mein bachcha aur sheher mein dhandhora :-).

Excellent song, typical Husnalal Bhagatram styled one.
