“Salaam Memsaahab”(1961) was a Young Technicians Unit Production. This movie was produced by N H Baria and A Khaliq. K Parwez was the director. The movie had Subbiraj, Kumkum, Bhagwan, Achla Sachdev, Naaz, K. N. Singh etc in it.
Here is a duet song from this movie. This song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. The song is picturised on Subbiraj and Kumkum as a teasing song. The expressions of Kumkum are lovely to watch in this picturisation.
Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravi.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)
hum hain tumhaare tum ho hamaare
jab tak hai duniya
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
roni soorat us pe mohabbat
ja deewaane ja
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
hum hain tumhaare tum ho hamaare
jab tak hai duniya
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
roni soorat us pe mohabbat
ja deewaane ja
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
dekho ji dil na todo
pehla pehla pyaar mera
pehla pehla pyaar hai
dekho ji dil na todo
pehla pehla pyaar mera
pehla pehla pyaar hai
jaao ji rasta chhodo
dil tum se bezaar mera
dil tum se bezaar hai
haaye haaye to phir main kahaan jaaun
jaao jahannum mujh ko kya ?? jaane meri bala
oye log bhala kya kahenge
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
hum hain tumhaare tum ho hamaare
jab tak hai duniya
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
karte ho dhokha hum se
kitne beimaan ho ji
kitne beimaan ho
karte ho dhoka hum se
kitne beimaan ho ji
kitne beimaan ho
jo bhi chaaho woh keh lo
tum to meri jaan ho
arrey tum to meri jaan ho
kisi tarah to meri jaan chhodo
duniya chhodoon saath na chhodoon main gori tera
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
roni soorat us pe mohabbat
ja deewaane ja
arrey log bhala kya kahenge
oye hum to tumhaare rahenge
lalalala la la la
haha haha ha ha ha
ho ho ho ho la la la la
haha haha ha ha ha
ho ho ho ho hohoho
lalalala la la la
apne deewane ke na pyaar ko thukraaiye
na pyaar ko thukraaiye
apne deewane ke na pyaar ko thukraaiye
na pyaar ko thukraaiye
meri to sunte nahin
jaaiye ji jaaiye ji
jaaiye ji jaaiye
hukum to deejiye
zara aankhen band kijiye
kar lin
kahiye hazrat kar li khush-aamad
muaaf karoge kya
hum to tumhaare rahenge
ja log bhala kya kahenge

Yes Mani, I agree. Kumkum couldn’t turn her true potential into success and due fame. Maybe one reason could be that she didn’t get paired up (meaning she didn’t have a well-established, consistent on-screen ‘jodi’) with a successful big-name hero. Her co-stars seem to vary from movie to movie. The only pairing of any significance she probably had was with Kishore Kumar (who wasn’t a serious actor).
In many cases her opposite leads included B-listers such as Subbiraj.
What do we know about this Subbiraj character?
AD?
Anyone?

Atif ji,
Subiraj was the cousin brother of Raj Kapoor.
He married (Baby) Naaz-whose real name was Salma Baig(she died on 19-10-1995).
Subiraj initially did many films as a Hero. Some of such films are Dekha pyar tumhara-63,Bada Aadmi-61,Chhaila Babu-67 etc.He acted in about 80 films, majority in the character roles. His first film was CID Girl-59.
Naaz was encouraged by Subiraj to become a dubbing artist and Naaz was the main Dubbing voice for SRI DEVI for her first 40 films, starting with HIMMATWALA.She got 5000/- for first dubbing and finally ended with 50000/-per film. She also gave voice to Moon moon sen and Bhanupriya.
subiraj is also no more.

Subhiraj, to the best of my knowledge, is from Kapoor (extended) family.
He married (Baby) Naaz.. In ‘recent’ times acted in TV serials.

Thank you KSS.
Do you know how was he connected to the Kapoors?
Was it through his marriage to Kumari Naaz? If so, then what has she got to do with the Kapoor clan?

Lakh lakh shukriya, Atif-ji! I’ve always felt very sorry for Kumkum. Here was a pretty young woman, an accomplished Kathak dancer and a very talented actress too. Yet, sadly, she never did rise to the heady heights of success that much lesser talented actresses of her time managed to reach. Did she choose the wrong movies, wrong roles? We’ll never know……

I found her to be one of the best dancer very light on her feet, very graceful….sad, she was good dancer, pretty & good actress but did not get many movies
