Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Bahut din beete beete re

Posted on: April 18, 2012

“Sant Gyaneshwar” (1964) was a Ranglok Production. It was directed by Manibhai Vyas. This low budget B grade movie had Sudhir Kumar, Jeevan, Sulochana, Ullhas, Asit Sen, Babloo, Shahu Modak, Surekha etc in it.

Music of this movie elevated this movie to a much higher plane that what movies of this nature could aspire. A few songs from this movie went on to become parts of daily lives of Indians.

The evergreen song Jyot se jyot jalaate chalo was from this movie and this song in fact became school prayers in several schools.

The above mentioned iconic song is the only song from this movie that has been discussed in this blog in the past. Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Bahut din beete beete re (Sant Gyaneshwar)(1964) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Bharat Vyas, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

bhor bhaye neet suraj ooge
saanjh pade dhal jaaye
aise hi meri aas bandhe aur
bandh bandhkar mit jaaye
khabar mori na aali li re
khabar mori na aali li re
bahut din beete
beete re
bahot din beete
khabar mori na aali li re
bahut din beete
beete re
bahot din beete

gokul ki ye
ae ae ae ae
gokul ki ye galiyaan royen
maduban ki ye kaliyaan royen
jamuna roye radha roye
raswanti rang raliyaan roye
more shyaam
haay roye roye
mere do naina bhaye reete
bahut din beete
beete re
bahut din beete
beete re
bahut din beete

sapne mein to daras dikhaade
kuchh dheeraj bandh jaaye
kuchh dheeraj bandh jaaye
sapna bhi to kis bidh aaye
jab nindiya nahin aaye
jab nindiya nahin aaye
more shyaam
teri yaad yaad mein
jug haare pal jeete
bahut din beete
beete re
bahut din beete

khabar mori na aali li re
khabar mori na aali li re
bahut din beete
beete re
bahut din beete

As you so rightly put it, the songs catapulted ‘Sant Gyaneshwar’ to a cult status! The songs were superb! Early Lakshni-Pyare vintage….
