“Hamsaaya”(1968) was a Joy Mukherji productions movie. It was produced and directed by Joy Mukherji. The movie had Joy Mukherjee, Mala Sinha, Sharmila Tagore, Jagirdar, Sapru, Kishore Malhotra, Polson, Jagdish Kanwal, Khurshid, Ratan Gaurang, Malika, Rehman etc in it.
The movie was no great shakes, but the music of the movie certainly was. The songs of this movie are still popular.

I heard this song for the first time only just now. And I loved this song.

That ‘Humsaaya’ ‘was no great shakes’ is an understatement! Even the excellent songs by the S H Bihari / O P Nayyar duo couldn’t keep it afloat. And it sank like a stone. Joy Mukherji as a Chinese was comical at best! The plot was wafer thin. Mala Sinha and Sharmila valiantly contributed their talents. All in vain though……..
