Maine ek khwaab sa dekha hai

“Waqt” (1965) was one of the most influential Hindi movies of all times. The story of “Waqt” (1965) was by no means original, but the scale and presentation of the the story was was certainly grand. I have already given several reasons in the past why I call this movie an influential movie.
(1) It was one of the earliest (though not the earliest) lost and found movies where the family members separate and despite near misses, reunite like the pieces of a jig saw puzzle only in the last reel. Manmohan Desai was certainly influenced by this movie when he made his movies of 1970s.
(2) It was one of the first (but not the first) multi starrer movies. The multistarrer movies of 1970s certainly look a leaf out of the book of “Waqt” (1965)
(3) The movie had a profound effect on the behaviour of Indian middle aged men towards their spouse. It became socially acceptable for Indian men to tease their wives in public in family get togethers after the song “O meri zohrazabeen”.
(4) Some of the dialogues (especially those uttered by Raj Kumar) became popular with movie goers. Later, this dialoguebaazi would be taken to a different league altogether in a movie like “Sholay” ten years later.
The music of this movie played an important role in the popularity of this movie. The movie had eight songs and all of them became very popular and remain so to this day.
As many as seven of these songs have already been discussed in the blog.
Here is the eighth and final song from this movie. This song is a duet which is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Asha Bhonsle. It begins as a telephone song and it is picturised on Sunil Dutt and Sadhana. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravi.
With this, all the songs of “Waqt” (1965) are now discussed in this blog.

Lyrics
haay Ravi
maine ek khwaab sa dekha hai
zara main bhi sunoon
sunke sharma to nahin jaaogi
un hoon
tumse nahin
maine dekha hai ke
phoolon se ladi shaakhon mein
tum lachakti hui
yoon mere qareeb aayi ho
aa aa aa
jaise muddat se yoonhi
saathh raha ho apnaa
jaise abki nahin
sadiyon ki shanaasaai ho
maine bhi khwaab sa dekha hai
kaho
tum bhi kaho
khud pe itra to nahin jaaoge
nahin
khud pe nahin
maine dekha hai ke
gaate huye jharnon ke qareeb
apni betaab ye jazbaat kahi hai tumne
hmm hmmm
kaanpte hothon se rukti hui aawaaz ke saath
jo mere dil mein thhi
wo baat kahi hai tumne
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
aanch dene lagaa
qadmon ke taley
barf ka farsh
aaj jaana ke
muhabbat mein hai garmi kitni
hmm hmm hmm
sange marmar ki tarah
sakthh badan mein tere
aa gayi hai mere
chhoo lene se
narmi kitni
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
maine dekha hai ke
kohre se bhari waadi mein
main ye kehta hoon
chalo aaj kahin ho jaayen
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
main ye kehti hoon ki
khone ki zaroorat kya hai
odh kar dhund ki chaadar ko
yahin so jaayen
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

There is another stanza, right before “maine dekha hai ke
kohre se bhari waadi mein”; Asha singing:
Hum Chale Jaate Hai Aur Door Talak Koi Nahin
Hum Chale Jaate Hai Aur Door Talak Koi Nahin
Sirf Paton Ki Jhatakne Ki Sadaa Aati Hai
Dil Mein Kuch Aaise Khayalat Ne Karwat Li Hai
Mujh Ko Tum Se Nahin, Apne Se Haya Aati Hai
