Jaaun to kahaan jaaun
Posted on: June 27, 2012
Today (27 june) is the birth anniversary of R D Burman, who was easily the most influential music director during the time I was growing up in late 1960s and for entire 1970s. His dominance was so total that most other music directors had to change their music to sound like R D Burman. I too k it almost for granted that any song that I liked those days had to be a composition of R D Burman.
“Anamika” (1973) is a movie that I became aware of thanks to its title song, which was the most popular song of this movie. The other songs of this movie were also popular and so it followed that the music of this movie was composed by R D Burman. 🙂
Here is a “lesser” known song from “Anamika”(1973). It is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is lip synced by Jaya Bhaduri. Others visible in the picturisation are Sanjeev kumar, A.k.Hangal,Ifthekar, Madhup Sharma and
Asrani.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
haan aaan
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
sab kuchch yahin hai
tere ghar ke baahar to
na duniyaa na deen hai
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
sab kuchch yahin hai ae
tere ghar ke baahar to
na duniyaa na deen hai
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
jaise bhi raakho
bihaari mohe ae ae
jag to pukaare
tihaari mohe ae
tere dwaar aake
haaan aaaa aaaa
tere dwaar aake
jaanaa nahin hai ae
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
sab kuchch yahin hai
tere ghar ke baahar to
na duniyaa na deen hai
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
preet tere sang
jodi piyaa aa
chhunri tere rang
odhee piyaa
haaanaaa
kahin aur ghungtaa
haaannn….aaaaaaaaaa
kahin aur ghungtaa
utthanaa nahin …hai
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
sab kuchch yahin hai
tere ghar ke bahaar to
na duniyaa na deen hai
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
sab kuchch yahin hai
tere ghar ke bahaar to
na duniyaa na deen hai
jaaoon to kahaan jaaoon
haan aaaaa aaaa

you will be surprised to know that the most iconic music director of 70s, did not win a single filmfare award for best music director during that decade, while LP won it four consecutive years 77-80 for Amar Akbar Anthony, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Sargam and Karz, respectively. In fact, RD won his first ever best music director award for Sanam Teri Kasam (1982). After that he won it again for Masoom (1983) and 1942-A Love Story (1994).
