Naina mere rang bhare sapne to sajaane lage

Yesterday (15 august 2012) was Indian Independence day. India had attained her independence on 15 august 1947.
By a unique coincidence, the Hindi movie actress Rakhi was born on that very day, viz 15 august 1947 ! Among all the midnight children (as Salman Rushdie would describe children born on that day in his best selling novel of the same name), Rakhi must be the most well known one. She is exactly of the same age as the nation of India !
Yesterday was the day when Indians cannot think of any other kind of songs except patriotic songs and so we in this blog did not greet Rakhi yesterday. At the next opportunity, viz one day late, I on behalf of the blog wish Rakhi a happy (albeit belated) birthday. The entire India celebrates her birthday, as she is herself quite aware. 🙂
On this occasion, here is a song from “Blackmail” (1973). The song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Rakhi who plays a housewife with a strained relation from her husband (Dharmendra) but is privately having tender thoughts about him that she expresses in this song when Dharmendra is away.
