Lagan lagi hai sajan milan ki

“Naata” (1955) was a Madhubala Pvt Ltd Production movie. It was directed by D N Madhok. The movie had Abhi Bhattacharya, Madhubala, Chanchal, Vijayalaxmi, Kanhaiyalal, Heeralal, Gope etc in it.
I have discussed as many as six songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from this movie.
This song is a “waiting for beloved” song. The song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Madhubala playing a village belle who is eagerly waiting for her beloved to arrive. She goes to the railway station, expecting him to arrive, but her wait ends in disappointment as the train arrives and then departs as well, but Madhubala’s beloved is nowhere to be seen.
I am not sure who is the lyricist of this song. Based on the fact that Tanvir Naqvi is credited as the lyricist in a few other songs of this movie, I assume that this song is also penned by him. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.
S Mohinder is the music director.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.
Song-Lagan lagi hai sajan milan ki (Naata)(1955) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Tanvir Naqvi, MD-S Mohinder
Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
lagan lagi hai sajan milan ki
lagan lagi hai sajan milan ki
badhti jaaye laya dhadkan ki
lagan lagi hai
beet gayi hai rain birah ki
aayi milan ki bhor
chhaaya se pag padat hai aage
chali balam ki oar
pyaasi ankhiyaan pee darshan ki
pyaasi ankhiyan pee darshan ki
lagan lagi hai
aaj sakhi ri tere man mein
armaanon ka raag
kya kya sapne dekh rahi hai
kahe to aawe laaj
hogi poori baat tapan ki
hogi poori baat tapan ki
lagan lagi hai sajan milan ki
lagan lagi hai

Too bad this exquisite song is so brief, less than a minute and a half. In the longer scene around this song (also on YT), there is some exquisite music, interrupted by dialog. I wish there was a complete song with the prelude music and an additional verse. Anyone know if there is a version like that on the gramaphone record release?

Actually, as per the story of this film… Abhi Bhattacharya, was in this train but with his wife 😦
So, anyway, her “anxiously waiting” saga did turn into a disappointment at the end.
