Thhukra ke hamen chal diye begaana samajh kar

Posted on: October 11, 2012

I have discussed as many as six songs from this movie. Despite discussing so many songs from this movie, not much was known about it. But now we know the detailed story of this movie.

Here is what Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia has to day about this movie:

BALAM-1949 was a film with very ordinary storyline, epeated several times before and later. Still,it ran for quite some time due to its Suraiya songs, who was in top gear at this time, filling the vacancy of Noorjahan, who had left and Lata was yet to get hold of the things. This was also the transition time to change the guard with all old artists-in acting, direction, singing and composing-and ringing in the newer ones. The old singers, in a year or two’s time disappeared and it was truely an age of Lata and Rafi for the next almost 20 years.

It was a film from the Wadia stable who never experimented and stuck to the beaten track for safety. The direction of Homi Wadia was nothing special and as was his wont, he depended upon his assistants in direction. Only the name was his.

BALAM is a love story with predictable twists. Basant (Wasti) returns after his education is over and tries to find out why their farmers are not paying in time. He disguises and goes in the village where he meets Kamala(Suraiya) and Tara(Suraiya Chaudhary) daughter of the village chaudhary. He falls for Kamala, but his Munimji recognises him and Kamala feels cheated. He also meets Gangoo(Jayant) the village gunda.

His younger brother is in love with Tara, impregnates her, but refuses to marry.

Gangoo kills the Munimji, who carries some cash packets, with Chaudhary’s knife. The chaudhary is arrested and jailed. Tara delivers a boy and dies. Kamala brings up the child. When Basant comes there, Gangoo tells him that the child is his and Kamala’s. Basant goes away.

Kamala leaves village with child. Leela(Nigar Sultana) gives her shelter. There Kamala sees Gangoo posing as Biharilal and trying to get married to Leela. She alerts Leela. Meanwhile Basant and Anant find some proof that Gangoo is the murderer.

There is a fight between Basant and Gangoo. Anant brings the police and Gangoo is arrested.

Anant gets his child and Basant and Kamala marry.

Here is the seventh song from “Balam” (1949). It is sung by Rafi. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.

Only the audio of this song is available and so I have no ide how and on whom this song is picturised.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.

Song-Thhukra ke hamen chal diye begaana samajh kar (Balam)(1949) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)

thukraa ke hamen chal diye
begaana samajh kar
thukraa ke hamen chal diye
begaana samajh kar
jaate huye dil le gaye
nazraana samajh kar
thukraa ke hamen chal diye
begaana samajh kar
jaate huye dil le gaye
nazraana samajh kar

toote huye dil mein abhi tak
yaad hai unki
yaad hai unki
jo bhool gaye pyaar ko
afsaana samajh kar
jo bhool gaye pyaar ko
afsaana samajh kar
jaate huye dil le gaye
nazraana samajh kar

kyaa khoob diyaa aapne
inaam-e-muhobbat
inaam-e-muhobbat
dil meraa jalaaya usse
parwaana samajh kar
dil meraa jalaaya usse
parwaana samajh kar
jaate huye dil le gaye
nazraana samajh kar
ham yaad liye aap ki
kooche mein pade hain
kooche mein pade hain
thokar hi lagaa ja
yeh deewaana samajh kar
jaate huye dil le gaye
nazraana samajh kar
thukraa ke hamen chal diye
begaana samajh kar
jaate huye dil le gaye
nazraana samajh kar
