“Baabla”(1953) was an M P Production movie. It was directed by Agradoot. The movie had Manju Dey, Master Niren, Paresh Banerji, Ashit Baran, Molina, Pahari Sanyal, Tulsi Chakraborty, Hiralal, Sova Sen etc in it. Not much is known about this movie which has by and large been forgotten by now.
This movie and its music may have been forgotten, but digging up the music of this movie throws up a few nice surprises. This movie has a lovely song with a socialist and democratic message that all people are equal and that people can no longer be denied their rights as had happened in the past.
This song has two versions. The male version has Manna Dey and chorus whereas the female version is sung solo by Lata.
Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.
Only the audio of this song are available and so it is difficult to make guesses about the picturisation of this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

I personally believe Sahir ji was truly self inspired and self motivated person who always took over all the difficulties in his life and move further with a new vigour, with a new zeal and enthusiasm. That’s why his words come straight from the heart and for me personally his songs are a source of inspiration. When i go through his ‘Gaata jaye banjara’ i find this beautiful poem and then search for its film and audio/video. Fortunately i got it !

Yes, first contribution of old song! One from ‘Phir subah hogi’ is with Atul ji.
It is because, i think most of the old songs would have been covered, but going by the posts for the last two -three months, i understand that many old songs are coming and and many still to come . Secondly , my first objective was to have the songs from 70’s (the popular and prominent one) or those films which do not have yet opened account on our blog, and last but not the least the songs which i hear when i was growing.
