“Karwat” (1949) is by now an obscure movie. This movie was a Shree Gopal Pictures production movie. It was directed by Prakash. The movie had Bhagwan, Satish, Leela Gupte, Baburao, Deepak, Ratanpriya, Anwari, Vasantrao etc in it.
This B grade movie had A grade music by Hansraj Bahl, then a newcomer music director.
Here is a forgotten gem from “Karwat” (1949). This song is sung by a then newcomer female singer. How well she has sung this song. The song expresses the joyous feelings of a girl whose beloved has arrived and she no longer needs to make passes on her as her beloved is a better looker than the moon, so the moon would would do well to hide himself behind clouds. 🙂
This fantastic song is written by Charandas. I wonder who this lyricist was.
The newcomer singer who has sung this song with such gusto is Geeta Roy, later to be knows as Geeta Dutt. Today (23 november) is her birth anniversary. Here is this fantastic forgotten gem on the occasion of her birth anniversary.

Lovely song. I really wish Geeta Dutt’s voice was used more in the movies, her voice is so different and does not screech through your ears like some of the other singers. Her songs pretty much give you a “mental massage” (#AtulJi).
