“Dr Vidya” (1962) was a Deluxe Films Production. It was directed by Rajendra Bhatia. The movie had Manoj Kumar, Vyjayantimala, Nazir Hussain, Madan Puri, Shivraj, Mumtaz, Manvendra, Sunder, Helen, Prem Chopra, Leela Chitnis etc in it.
As many as five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from the movie. This song is sung by Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and chorus.
The song is picturised as a quawwali competition between members of the two genders, and it is reminiscent to quawwalis like the Na to kaarwaan ki talaash hai…ye ishq ishq hai(Barsaat ki raat). In fact, this quawwali could well have been an attempt by the makers of this movie to try and create a qawwali on the same lines.
I am unable to identify the actors appearing in the picturisation. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify them.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.

Congratulations on your double century. As Atulji has said, this must be THE fastest century of the blog. (Actually I don’t think anyone can break Atulji’s record of making centuries in any category. He has a big heart that he gives credit to his contributors 🙂 )

Prakashchandra: There is another permanent fixture in RajKapoor’s movies i.e. Mamaji. I think it is his real Mamaji(some Sethi)
