I have discussed songs from “Insaaf” (1956) and “Insaaf” (1966) in the past. It appears that a movie of this title was released at every 10 years inerval those days, seeing that there was a movie with this title in 1946 too. 🙂
“Insaaf” (1946) is a movie from distant past and very little information is available about this movie. Here is a forgotten gem from this obscure movie.
This song is sung by Hamida Bano, Rafi and chorus. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hari Prasanna Das.
What a delightful song it is. Let us not forget that this song had come at a time when Rafi was still an up and coming singer. This has to be one of his earliest songs sung in an Hindi movie. It would appear that the song had failed to become much popular during that time, seeing that this song is not at all well known.
Only the audio of this song is available but the comment on YT suggests that the song was pucturised on Navin Yagnik and Swarnlata. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Yes, a delightful song this one is, hearing it for the first time.
Couple of corrections.
There are 4 occurences of the chorus line
“saawan mein garwaa lagaa lo”
which should read
“saawan mein garwaa lagaa loongi”
Also, the line
“tu ja main uss ko manaalungi”
should read
“yun to main uss ko manaa loongi”

Thanks for your corrections. I thought the words ‘tu jaa main uss…..” sounded too contemporary. But than the whole stanza sounds ahead of its time , for e. g.
gusse ka hitler hai yeh raam jaane

teri to kya baap ki bhi na maane
teri to kya baap ki bhi na maane
In 1946, the world war II was barely over. The full details of Hitler’s actions and its impact on world history was too new to be so well known.
