Kisi na kisi se hogi mohabbat

This article is written by Sudhir, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.
Dev Anand’s dedication and commitment to the medium and the industry is well visible to all. Past the seventies when the box office appeal had shifted to the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor, Jeetendra, Sanjeev Kumar, and Vinod Khanna etc., he continued to be at the helm of film making, and continued to produce and direct films with an uncanny regularity, all the way till his departure from this world. Majority of his later films did not attract much critical or commercial attention, but nonetheless, that did not deter him from his work and his passion.
The decade of 1970s still continued to be very prolific for Dev Anand. He appeared in about 22 films during this decade, doing better than 2 films a year. And he continued to evince the interest of other producers and production houses, given than just about a third of these 22 films came from his own banner i.e. Navketan.
‘Ishq Ishq Ishq’ (1974) is a film that is produced and directed by Dev Anand for his own banner. The cast is really impressive and includes Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Kabir Bedi, Premnath, Nadira, Trilok Kapoor, Jeevan, Iftekhar, AK Hangal, Gautam Sareen, Maruti, Jankidas, Madhup Sharma, Satyajeet, Komilla Virk, Ratan Gaurang, and many more. A lesser known
trivia about the casting of this film is that it is the debut film for Zarina Wahab and Shekhar Kapoor as actors. The songs of this film are penned by Anand Bakshi, and the music is composed by RD Burman.
The film is a story about an innkeeper’s family, headed by Premnath and Nadira. And they have five daughters. Dev Anand is a traveler, who has set by himself out to explore the world. He arrives at this inn, incidentally named ‘Five Daughter’, and decides to stay for a while. Both comedy and romance follow his arrival, as the innkeeper and his wife try their best to
keep this new handsome guest away from their posse of eligible daughters.
There is intrigue and jealousy, there are hidden secrets in the past, there is a spiritual teacher (AK Hangal) who holds the key to some of these secrets, and this visit turns out to be more of a homecoming for Dev Anand, for it appears that he has roots here. Experimenting, as always, Dev Anand started of a with a wonderful idea, but could not really make it settle down into the Indian milieu. The innkeeper and his family seem to belong more to the Italian Alps than to the Himalayas.
The music of this film is really good – Dev Anand had not yet lost his touch with the melody and the song. With this song, this film makes a debut on this blog. There are a total of eight songs in this film, and it appears that this particular song is hard to get. I read Prakash ji’s request to post this song. It puzzled me that a song of relatively recent vintage, and from a significant film, is not traceable. I checked out the LP of this film, and yes, the song is very much there on the LP. However, when I checked the video disc released by Shemaroo, I find that this song does not figure in the disc release version. Now I have not seen this film on the big screen, so I cannot comment for sure whether this song was included or not in the initial release, and whether the cut was made while producing the disc version of the film. I would request other knowledgeable readers to comment on this aspect. But yes, I have this song in my audio collection, and have uploaded the audio today.
A young lady is trying keep a bevy of suitors at bay, it seems. A comic and a fun song, talking about possibilities and half promises, but always the assurance that if she falls in love she will for sure share it with the world, and so all the willing and eager wooers are told to wait. A song meant for Asha Bhosle, and she has done good justice. Seems hard to believe that it is already forty years ago that this song was created. But by all means, have fun listening to it. Enjoy.
Song-Kisi na kisi se hogi mohabbat (Ishq Ishq Ishq)(1974) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics

magar. . .
kis se hogi
jis se hogi
bataa doongi
naam doongi

haan. . . oye oye

bataa doongi
teemro moha raamro chhe
honay ko tumse bhi ho sakti hai
neend nigodi kahin kho sakti hai
koshish karte jaao
aahen bharte jaao
assal. . .
jab kuchh hoga
jo kuchh hoga
bataa doongi
naam doongi
pataa doongi
haan. . . oye
haan. . . hoo ooo
haan. . .
bataa doongi
teemro pani moha raamro chhe
sabke liye hai baraabar ka maukaa
koi bhi de sakta hai mujhko dhokhaa
tu bhi deewaana hai
jaana pehchaana hai
nazzar. . .
jab mili to
ye sab hi ko
bataa doongi
naam doongi
pataa doongi
haan. . . oye
haan. . . hoo ooo
haan. . .
bataa doongi
teemro pani moha raamro chhe
ummeedwaaron mein shaamil hai tu bhi
meri inaayat ke kaabil hai tu bhi
tohfe diye tu ne
waade liye tu ne
agar. . .
iss baazi ko
tu jeeta to
bataa doongi
naam doongi
pataa doongi
haan. . . oye
haan. . . oye oye
haan. . .
bataa doongi
kisi na kisi se
hogi mohabbat
magar. . .
kis se hogi
jis se hogi
bataa doongi
naam doongi
pataa doongi
haan. . . oye
haan. . . oye oye
haan. . .
bataa doongi
kisi na kisi se

Prakash ji,
Very welcome. 🙂
That is the fun thing about this blog; there are so many wonderful gems waiting to be discovered and posted. And the real fun part is trying to trace down an elusive number. And yes, sometimes we do get lucky, very quickly. 🙂
Harvey ji
Yes, the film is very interesting, given all the ingredients, and the also the music. Rest of the songs are also peppy and ear catching. The film is available on disc.

I must have been heard this song in my childhood, but for me,the song resurfaced 3 months back, when Vividhbharthi station aired this song in its daily programme “Aaj ke fankaar” featuring actress Zarina Wahab, and played this one. I began my search for this song, and did not able find any youtube link to this song. And thought that someone may upload this song in near future, Then Saturday before lunch time, I searched for this song again in youtube and didn`t found the link. Then thought of our blog, and decided firstly I have to register the mukhdaa of this song in the famaish section, otherwise, again I will forget the song lines.
After one day,Sudhir ji and Atul ji got me this song.Like they have gifted me the elusive songs of Girls Hostel,Sajjo rani,Mere Sajna,Dil Aakhir dil hai, Razia Sultan,Khara Khota,Shararat(“hum toh koyee bhi nahin hamko bhulaa do aisse”)Chaalis din,Nai Rahein(Lata-Kal ke chanda, aaj ke sapne) etc etc
Ab kyaa kahoon Sudhir ji and Atul ji ????
“Thanks” “Thanks” “Thanks” “Thanks” “Thanks” “Thanks”
