“Pyaase Dil” (1974) was a New Ashoka International Production movie. It was produced by Amritlal Khanna. Shokh was the writer and producer of this movie. The movie had Alka, Yash Tandon, Aziz Mirza, Pinchoo Kapoor, Kumud Tripathi, Maruti, Leela Mishra, Kumar, Azad, Haider, Joginder, Master Titoo, Sofia etc in it, with Shyama And Sheetal in Special appearances.
Today(19 august 2013) is the 37th death anniversary of Jaan Nisaar Akhtar (8 february 1914- 19 august 1976) according to information available online. I have also read about 28 august 1976 being his date of death in a book called “Hindi Filmon Ke Geetkaar” though.
Here is a song from “Pyaase Dil” (1974). It is sung by Jagjit Kaur and Mahendra Kapoor. The song is picturised as a romantic song on Alka and Yash Tandon.
Jaan Nisaar Akhtar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khayyam.

Still at school, when this song made its appearance on the radio waves. And without knowing anything else about it, except recognizing Mahendra Kapoor’s voice, it became a humming favorite of mine.

ek saal yaa kuchch arse pehle jab , iss movie ke aur ek(Mukesh Solo Hogaa) gaane ko post ke saath aapne blog mein shaamil kar diyaa tha.
Tab se main soch mein thaa ke “shaayad Sudhir ji ke nazron mein ye gaanaa(Duet from Pyase Dil) bhi hai aur Sudhir ji hi iss gaane ko lyrics aur special post ke saath post karenge”. Aur main ek saal tak intezaar karke, kuchch din pehle iss gane ke lyrics ko Atul ji ke paas bhej diyaa thaa.

I know that I have been slow with responding in comments lately. I apologize for that; it has just been a set of things on work and personal front that have kept me busy more than usual. But I do keep a watch on and follow all posts and all comments.
All friends on this bandwagon are always on my mind. 🙂
The third song from this film, the other Mukesh solo, is already written up, and with Atul ji, he should be positng it within a day or so.

Radio Vividh Bharathi or Radio Ceylone, I am not very sure but they used to play this song very often in their morning (9.30 am onwards) and Afternoon slots during mid 70`s.This song gradually(Audio wise)grown upon me from those days, 2 years ago I re-discovered this song and got the name of the movie to which this song belongs. These days, whenever I listen to this song, I get the feel of many childhood nostalagic moments. Thanks Atul ji for posting this song.
