“Saawan Aaya Re” (1949) was a Hindustan Chitra production movie. It was directed by Kishore Sahu. The movie had Kishore Sahu, Pratima Devi, Ramola, Sofia, Mohana, Gulab, Anant Prabhu, Promoth Bose, David Abraham, Ramesh Gupta etc in it.

This song is sung by Shamsgad Begam. Unlike other Shamshad Begam songs from the movie whih were picturised on Ramola, this song is picturised as a staged roadside tamasha song. It is lip synced by a female dancer whom I am unable to identify. She is also accompanied by a male harmonium player and their performance is watched by several people. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the actors.
Shamshad Begams’s singing is the star attraction of this song and her voice steals the show. Gulshan Jalalabadi’s lyrics are wonderful. Khemchand Prakash’s music is nice to listen to, as always. What a delightful song. I heard this song for the first time only just now.
