“Shaadi” (1941) was produced by Jayant Desai for Ranjit Films. The movie had Khurshid, Ishwarlal, Madhuri, Motilal, Ghori etc in it.
Two songs from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is the third song from the movie. This song is sung by Khursheed and chorus. Munshi Dil is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.
Only the audio of this song is available. It is clear that the song was picturised on Khursheed herself (alongwith others). The lyrics also show that it is a wedding song in which the sahelis of the bride are praising the “singaar” (makeup) of the bride.
In Hindi movie songs, there are some standard words which have been overused, but this song contains words that were rarely used subsequently in Hindi movie songs. Noting down the lyrics of songs like this becomes challenging, and especially so if the audio is not very clear. While I have been able to decipher most of the lyrics, I have been unable to get the words at some places. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the gaps/ rectify errors in the lyrics.
