Produced by National Studios, Bombay, it was directed by Lalit Mehta and Chimanlal Gandhi. Music was by Anil Biswas. All the 11 songs of the film were written by Dr. Safdar ‘Aah Sitapuri. The cast of the film included Sardar Akhtar, Amar, Husn Banu, Veena Kumari, Kanhaiyalal, Bhudo Advani and Debutant Actor- Director N.A.Ansari along with many others.

‘Sikandar’(1941) was produced under the banner of Minerva Movietone and was directed by Sohrab Modi. The star cast included Prithviraj Kapoor, Vanmala, Sohrab Modi, Sheela, Meena (Shorey), K N Singh, Sadiq Ali, Shakir, Yakub, Gajendra Singh, Jillo Bai, Zahur Raja, Noor Jehan (Sr), Prakash, etc. This was the first Hindi film for actress, Vanmala and Meena and the first film for Prithviraj Kapoor in Mumbai after his return from New Theatres, Kolkata. Another noticeable feature about Prithviraj Kapoor in this film is that his voice sounds different than what I have heard in his films of the 1960s.

The cast of the film was Kanta Kumari, Madhav Kale, Indira Wadkar, Shakuntala Paranjape (it was her last Hindi film), Vimal Ghaisas (a renowned stage actress), Omkar Devaskar, Raja Pandit ( he was an actor, director and producer. He was the husband of actress Ratnamala. Thay had a son-Jai) and a few others.

The cast of the film was Meenakshi Shirodkar, Vinayak, Master Vithal, Lalita Pawar, Baburao Pendharkar, Dada Salvi, Damuanna Malvankar, Vishnupant Jog etc. The cameraman was Pandurang Naik, one of the owners of Navyug, along with Baburao, PK Atre and Vinayak, of course.

The film was made by National Studios and it was directed by Mehboob. The Music Director was Anil Biswas. As a team they had worked in 8 films together, at a stretch. The story of the film was by Zia Sarhadi. Screenplay and dialogues were by Wajahat mirza. The cast of the film included Shaikh Mukhtar, Nalini Jaywant, Harish, Kanhaiyalal, Husn banu, Shehzadi jr., Baby Meena (Meena Kumari), Bhudo Advani and many others. At the time of this film, Nalini Jaywant was only 14 year old, running into 15th year. As a girl child, her role was done by Meena Kumari as Baby Meena. She was 7 year old then.

Today’s song is from a Religious (Bhakti Pradhan) film- Sant Sakhu-1941.
This Bilingual film (Hindi-Marathi) was made by Prabhat Film co. Poona. It was directed byDamle and Fattelal. Raja nene was their assistant, but even his name was shown along with them as the third director. Music was by Keshavrao Bhole. Lyricists were P.L. Santoshi and Pt. Mukhram Sharma- who had become an expert in Marathi, especially after he married the Marathi actress of Prabhat- Shanta Mujumdar. The cast of the film consisted of Hansa Wadkar, Gauri, Shankar rao Kulkarni, Shanta Mujumdar (wife of Pt. Mukhram Sharma), Sumitra , Master Chhotu and others.
