Ek aag hai dehakta raag hai jawaani

Regulars may have noticed that new posts in the blog have reduced for the last few days. The regulars may have also noticed that quite a few posts these days announce the fact that all the songs of movies have been covered with those posts.
The two facts are interrelated. I have been concentrating on posting songs from movies that have only one song left to be posted and this slows me down. How ! Let me explain it in this post.
In the earlier simpler days, I would just post songs of the day and that was it. It was a one man show where I did everything myself. Then came a stage when I began to get lyrics contributions and also articles contributions. So those contributions also began to appear in the blog. With time, we added new features in the blog, viz. the some stats page and list of songs pages. The stats page began to give us an idea of where the various artists stood as far as their songs were concerned. That gave us the idea of having their centuries. So I began to concentrate on artists who were nearing their centuries. That meant posting songs involving those artists. This was in addition to the usual century posts for the blog. Then we hit upon the idea of combining century posts of the blog with the century post of artists.
One fine day, we came up with another feature, namely the list of anniversaries. This gave us the new idea of posting songs of artists on the days of their anniversaries. We also hit upon the idea of sometimes coinciding the century posts of these artists with their anniversaries.
All these enhancements in the blog require considerable legwork at the background. Moreover, the selection of songs to be posted on a daily basis no longer remains a simple affair as they used to be in the past.
With time, we came up with another idea that we should be aware when all songs of a movie get covered. This was easier said than done because we needed to check the list of songs from HFGK. Our beloved in house encyclopaedia, Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh took it upon himself to pore over the song lists of HFGK. He devoted several weeks to painstakingly check up the HFGK lists with our blog list of songs to come up with full details of movies that were approaching the stage of all their songs covered. The result was another enhancement in the blog- in the form of “Movies with all songs covered”.
Now, we have as many as 409 movies as of now whose songs are fully covered in the blog and we are adding to this list almost on a daily basis.
Our contributors also quickly get wise to what I am trying to achieve in the blog from time to time and they act accordingly. 🙂 For instance, when I would post songs from certain artists with the aim to bring up their centuries that our contributors would begin to send me contributions to match. 🙂 Likewise when they realise that I was trying to cover all songs of movies then they began to send contributions of such songs. 🙂
As mentioned earlier, every new enhancement in the blog takes considerable effort and that slows things down, at least in the beginning. Since I am trying to post songs that may completely cover all the songs of movies, it means that I have to spend time looking for such movies. Looking for movies and see how many songs they contain and then find out from our list how many of these songs have been covered in a time consuming process. After that, I have to look for the missing song from the list of contributions that I have received in the past. If the lyrics of that song is available, then I use that, else I have to listen to the song myself and note down the lyrics like in the olden days of the blog. 🙂
It happens quite a few times that this last mile connectivity is the toughest part. This one missing song is often a rare song which is not even available on YT and sometimes not available elsewhere in the internet. Then we have to rely upon collectors of rare songs who are generous enough to share these songs with others. Fortunately we have several such music lovers who readily share their rare gems with us. Our own Sudhir jee is a tremendous man to have for unearthing rare songs that have often been regarded as extinct by all concerned.
Going through the list of HFGK and comparing which movies in the blog are nearing completion of all their songs ! This was done in the past by our beleved in house encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, and he has taken up this rtask once again on himself. He has sent me list of movies with only one song missing. This is a valuable list for me and that will speed up this tast of covering such movies.
While going through the list of movies sent by him, I find that “Naujawaan” (1951) had seven songs in it and six of them have already been covered. The one missing song from this movie is “Ek Aag hai dehakta raag hai jawaani” which is sung by Manna Dey.
On receiving this information, I looked up at the list of contributions and I find that the lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah in the past.
What about the availability of this song on YT ? As such missing songs go, this song is unsurprisingly, a rare song which is not available on YT. So the next step in discussing this song is to get the mp3 of this song, get it converted into YT uploadable form and then upload it. And with that, the link of this song can now be provided in the post.
Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. music is composed by S D Burman.
With this song, “Naujawaan” (1951) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
I hope that this writeup will give our reader some idea of what are the steps that are often involved before a YIPPEE moment like this arrives in the blog. 🙂

Dear Atul,
Multi-tasking with multiple objectives for enhancement of the blog is a difficult job. But you handle it so easily that at least I am made to believe that everything is going on, more or less, smoothly. Your article is timely one to let a person like me to know that it is not that quite easy.
The song under discussion is a background song in the film while showing the credit title.

We have fully covered 409 movies out of the 2,700 featured. The balance 2,300 movies assuming say 3 songs are remaining which totals upto 6,900. Further if we also take into account the thousands of films which have not seen the light of our blog will tote upto huge numbers.

Congratulations Atul ji-Shah Saheb on covering all songs of this movie and its joining to the list of ‘moives-all songs covered’…!!!
– thanks Atul ji for this post and all the efforts to get mp3 and converting it into youtube link of this song. While sharing the penultimate song from this film, i searched for this final song very much but could not find it, and that was fine since Shah Saheb had already shared it to you earlier.
YIPPEE……………………. 🙂

Arunji must have taken great pains in bringing up the negative list if I may say so. However the Movies-all covered List remains untouched since say 1 year with so many cancelled songs. I feel that it should be updated pronto. Over the years many films have neared completion. Instead of cancelling the songs it should be erased altogether to get a cleaner and clearer look
